About A unique individual with a special love and concern for his fellow and all people. Amatsia committed his life to his family and community. The Meron family are founding members of our Shul and Amatsia and Faffi helped to grow and shape our Shul, Hebrew School and community. One day in Shul Amatsia asked why the synagogue did not have a second scroll for the holidays. When Amatsia heard that the one Torah we had was in fact on loan , Amatsia immediately said that he would like to be involved in getting the Shul its first Torah. This was Amatsia at his best, ready to be involved and help at any opportunity. Unfortunately due to circumstance Amatsia did not have the opportunity to fulfill his wish and was taken from us at a very young age. During the Shiva prayers the community decided to continue the life and goodness of Amatsia by fulfilling his wish and buying the first Torah scroll for our Shul in honor of Amatsia ob’m. I know Amatsia is very happy with this new project and is smiling and encouraging us from on high. Our sages have taught that each and every Jew has a letter in the Torah, corresponding to his or her soul and spiritual identity. Just as each letter is an essential part of the Torah so to each and every Jewish soul is of utmost importance and constitutes an essential and integral part of the Jewish people.
The Lubavitcher Rebbe explains that by participating in a communal Torah one can fulfill the very last biblical commandment "To write for yourself a Torah scroll". Each of us can collectively fulfill this mitzvah by becoming a partner in our Communal Unity Torah. You can dedicate a letter, portion or book in this beautiful Torah. Amatsia showed such an amazing love for people, and bringing people together. What better way to honor and remember Amatsia then to participate in our first Communal Unity Torah! |
